Václavské nám. 27, Prague 1 - Nove Mesto
Description: The Meran hotel was built in years 1895 - 1906 by the Hajek family in a narrow building site originally considered unsuitable for a hotel structure. Despite of it, it has become one of the most remarkable architectural sights of the Wenceslas Sq. together with Evropa Hotel. After the WWII, it became a property of the state and in 1991 it was given back to its original proprietors, the Hajek family. It has been restored to the prior Art Nouveau style. Nowadays, it provides accommodation in 20 rooms.
The Wenceslas Square is the commercial and business centre of town. It is a modern "avenue" square full of shops, offices, cinemas, "take-away"style restaurants and structures as the National Museum or modern palaces with passages. Many of the historical events took place here.
